This Privacy Policy explains how PandaPinyin (“we,” “us,” or “our”) handles information when you use our Chinese pinyin practice service.

1. Information we collect

Depending on how you use PandaPinyin, we may collect:

• Account information: email address, username, authentication provider, account identifiers, and verification status.
• Practice information: HSK level, test settings, speed, accuracy, errors, timestamps, personal bests, challenge results, and learning progress.
• Community content: practice text, source details, ratings, reports, and moderation records you submit.
• Technical information: IP address, browser and device information, request logs, diagnostic events, and security or abuse signals.
• Local settings: themes, sound preferences, and practice settings stored in your browser.

2. How we collect information

We receive information directly when you register, sign in, complete practice, submit text, change settings, or contact us. We also receive limited technical information automatically when your browser connects to the Service.

3. How we use information

We use information to:

• create and secure accounts;
• save results and progress;
• operate HSK leaderboards and daily challenges;
• detect abuse and security incidents;
• debug, maintain, analyze, and improve the Service;
• respond to requests and enforce our Terms of Service.

4. Authentication and service providers

PandaPinyin supports Google Sign-In through Supabase Authentication. Google and Supabase process authentication information under their own terms and privacy policies. Account profiles and typing results are stored in Supabase Postgres. We may also use hosting, logging, analytics, and error-monitoring providers to protect and operate the Service.

These providers receive only the information reasonably necessary to perform their services and may process information in countries other than your own.

5. Public information

Your username, scores, and ranks may be visible to other users. Your email address is not displayed on public leaderboards. Avoid placing personal information in your username.

6. Cookies and local storage

PandaPinyin uses browser storage and may use cookies to keep you signed in, remember settings, protect forms, and maintain essential Service functionality. Blocking these technologies may prevent account or practice features from working correctly.

7. Retention

We keep account and practice information while your account is active and for as long as reasonably needed to provide the Service, resolve disputes, prevent abuse, satisfy legal obligations, and maintain backups. Approved public submissions may remain after account deletion unless removal is required by law or approved by us. We may retain limited hashed identifiers associated with bans or abuse prevention.

8. Your choices and rights

You can update account details, opt out of leaderboards, or delete your account from account settings. Depending on where you live, you may also have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, object to, or receive a copy of personal information. Send requests to hello@pandapinyin.com . We may need to verify your identity before completing a request.

9. Children

PandaPinyin is a general-audience service and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from a child under 13 without legally required parental authorization. Contact us if you believe a child has provided personal information in violation of this policy.

10. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards designed to protect information. No online service or storage system can guarantee absolute security. Security reports may be sent to hello@pandapinyin.com .

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as the Service changes. The effective date above identifies the latest version. Material updates will be posted on this page.
